A lot of things are changing around us. The climate is changing and for how long are we able to resist it? Within this project the goal is to design climate adaptive, to adapt and embrace certain circumstances within the climate change. By already looking into future scenario’s (extreem wether conditions; heat stress and heavy rainfalls) you can lessen the impact and create for a longer term.
De nieuwe dijk is a future neighborhood located in the Zernike campus. This is a place where peo- ple from different generations will live together. A healthy environment, child friendly and socially safe neighborhood surrounded by nature. The landscape itself will be used to lessen the impact of climate change, by using the landscape optimale as possible. The side connected to the Reitdiep will be a marsh land where the water is accepted and filtrated by the nature itself. The rest soil of the wetlands will be used to lift up a part of the site. This is where the housing will come. With a higher view over the landscape and different levels which are accessible trough stairs, these are placed in the landscape. This will reconnect the people with nature.
